Park and Wildlife Ventures
The Park and Wildlife Ventures program fulfills
the park and wildlife objectives of the Foundation. The
Foundation's natural areas
and parks provide habitat for wildlife, conserve water, and
provide recreational opportunities for the public.
Planning carefully and responsibly for
continued growth in Alberta is important so that future
generations will have a
chance to enjoy beautiful natural areas.
Conserving Natural Areas and Wildlife Habitat
The Park and Wildlife Ventures program fosters the growth
of private land conservation initiatives in Alberta through
charitable land donations, land purchases, land management,
partnerships with conservation groups, fund raising and
consultative services.
Donations of land are accepted by the Park and Wildlife
Ventures program and may be eligible for certification under
the Government of Canada's Ecological Gifts Program (http://www.cws-scf.ec.gc.ca/egp-pde/). In many cases, a donor will make a gift
of land to the Foundation and will include specific wishes
related to activities for the land. These wishes are
respected.
Land purchases help conserve natural areas that are
important to wildlife, are ecologically sensitive, and/or
are adjacent to other conservation lands. The
Foundation currently has
21
properties in Alberta.
The Park and Wildlife Ventures program brings together
landowners, community groups, industry, government agencies,
non-government agencies, volunteers and donors to conserve
valuable habitat. The Foundation partners with other
conservation agencies to manage lands,
to provide funds for the purchase of lands and to
promote conservation in Alberta. It is important to keep land in a natural state and/or enhance it,
while ensuring public access for low impact recreational use.

Funds are accepted on a
project by project basis. For example, a donation to the
Peaceful Valley restricted account will only be used in the
maintenance and operation of the Peaceful Valley Provincial
Recreation Area and Day Use Lodge.
Donors can also
take advantage of various planned giving tools such as
bequests through their will or life insurance policies.
The Foundation issues tax receipts for charitable
donations, in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency
regulations.
